Is the "On Fire" collection too upsetting for the home page? |

Tattoos = gang member so I can understand your preternatural fear.
The Hot Coffee lawsuit was 100% valid
(Sorry - pet peeve of mine) |
Dont want to get into that - BUT I am familiar with this and totally disagree.....So I guess I will never be asked to be a moderator... |
Which?
The tattoos was a joke.
The coffee thing - everything I read about the actual case and not the BS that was spread everywhere sounded like they had a legitimate case of ongoing negligence to me. I just did a Google search on the topic and still feel this way.
Disagreeing with me on a topic would not preclude being a moderator. _________________ How to Post Photos

Some added information on your comment:
The "Hot Coffee" case was justified, but is vilified by those who pander to people regarding "frivolous lawsuits". The McDonalds in question had been cited by the Health Department numerous times for a coffee machine that was brewing coffee at temperatures that exceeded food safety standards. The restaurant management did nothing to correct the issue, which led to the Plaintiff being scalded with third degree burns that required reconstructive surgery. Punitive damages are meant to send a message not only to the Defendant but also to serve as a warning. The amount of damages in this case amounted to two days of profits for that particular restaurant. That's hardly excessive nor ridiculous.
Anyone truly interested in this case, as well as how lawsuits are demonized, should watch the documentary Hot Coffee. It's a real eye opener. _________________ West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624 (1943) |
