Situation:
With short notice, i am having to move from Tennessee to Florida. The move is in 3 weeks, actually a few days less than that.
Over time, i have collected 5 bugs, besides my 2004 Passat Wagon.
I'm stressed out and dont want to try and fix up or sell any of the cars.
I am renting a 16' truck and a car trailer to make the move.
My question, my pondering is.. If i took off the bodies of say two or three of the bugs would they stack or slip into each other ? The base of the body is wider than the top, so the bodies should slip into each other at least half way?
I have enough experience to take these suckers apart fast. I could feasibly get all six cars (or at least 5) in two trips if i did this.. I mean sections/pieces of a bug takes up less space and is workable compared to a whole car, right? Set me straight guys, i need advice, reasonable? or not..Thanks Rick

NO!

About one minute with a tape measure will show you why!

This doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Sounds like metal getting all bent up and bodies going out of shape. Can't you rent a storage locker/garage or something for a little while and make a few trips?

You guys didnt answer my question though..dont you think the bodies would slip into each other to some degree?
I did take the tape measure outside and went over the length and heigth of everything, body, frame, etc.. it will all fit !!
Mentally, it just seems so much easier for me..i mean, go outside kick butt for 3 or 4 days and its all ready to go. No future return trips, storage etc..

I wouldn't risk the bodies getting wrecked.

How are you going to solve for the firewall in the front and the parcel tray/rear seat area in the back? Unless you are going to cut them out there isn't even a remote chance this would work.

You may have an ultimate set of tools, but your eyesight sucks.
Look at a bug's body (better yet, have somebody with vision do it). It is widest at mid-door, not at the running boards.

If you cannot make two trips with your hoard, you already lack the fortitude necessary to un-fuch the mess you'd cause stacking those piles.
I'm only trying to be a medium jerk- but really, have you thought about the mess you'll create?

Ouch! what you said hurt bro.. but, it is exactly what i needed to hear. I asked for everyones advice and i hear ya. I am not thinking to clearly because of all the 'life' changes that are happening so fast, thats why i asked.
So, i will take my "hoard" and either lighten her up some by selling a few off, or i will do what it takes to get them there in a proper manner. (damn things are like family now) Honestly, thanks for everyones advice.
Peace.. Rick

Look into a car transport company - Lots of them out there. With the number you have, it may be cheaper than making multiple trips. BUT one of the issues is getting them loaded and unloaded if not running or if they arent rollers.
