My daughter wanted an older bus so I found this 72 Westy. Not a lot of rust but still in need of repair work, good project for Savannah to learn. Will post pics as soon as I can figure it out. I have already learned so much from this site and all of those that have posted. So to keep up with the fight to keep these VW's on the road we will be doing our part.

How old is your daughter and does she have a nickname? (something short and easy to spell).

Sounds like fun!

TheSamba is awesome for technical support. Local groups are also extremely valuable for support. Check out TheGoodVolks. It's a Michigan vintage VW club. Great guys who can lend a helping hand or some spare tools if you need. Wink

Yes. Sadly I've never seen it, not cross the board. People are just people. When you walk out into RL do you find that decorum? I don't. (not in this town anyway) Well, they're a whole lot less inhibited online.

Lots of people here being helpful, interesting OTs, no flame wars, only 2 1/2 people on my ignore list in a couple months---I'd say this is as good as it gets. You want to see a zoo, try ADV. #Bad Talk

Wooooo.

Welcome to the samba where apparently no one has heard of a girl before.

Follow the links to post pics and we'll jump in to help you out. As adhd as this crowd is pictures mean a lot. 72 is a real bastard year that is a mess if one year only parts.

Follow those 72 only links to verify your rare crap is in good shape.

My daughter is only 8 and it makes my skin crawl to think of her ending up with one of these damn, dirty, bus living hippies.

This I do not need to worry about she is way to down to earth and has a goal that takes her forward.
She likes getting into the hard work.. We just pulled the tank so we could get the sending unit to work.
Found that it lost the ground inside the sender duo the metal oxidizing in the sender itself. Found the repair here on the samba.
The tank itself was not bad just a handful of rust and no tar the fuel hose is in very good shape, although that elbow was toast.

Big difference between doing such a project with a 16 yr old and a 23 yr old. I'd say you're in the middle. Smile

Savvy is easy to spell. Like it. Can't spell for beans.

Maybe they need to check the weight of the old bus to the newer vans, they have tin foil for fenders and plastic for. O and no frame to speech of.
