Greetings!
The Foul Air Volkswagen Club, headquartered in beautiful Northeastern Oklahoma, has decided to tackle an ambitious project and we'd like for you to follow us along for the ride. We have a 1966 Sea Blue Beetle that we're going to restore as a club. We plan on meeting roughly once a month (more if possible) and pull this thing apart and put it back together better than new. Our goal is to complete this project in less than 12 months. (seems like a long time, but we're talking project months here...)
Our club generally leans towards a patina finish and a lowered stance, so if you're a purist, you might want to look away. But that doesn't mean we're going to take shortcuts. We'll be replacing old, warn parts with quality new parts. Our emphasis will be to demonstrate safe practices for our fellow club members to learn from and follow. We welcome all input and donations of free parts and beverages.
Follow us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/projectcodeblue and check out our website http://www.foulairvw.com/
Our first session will be March 28th when we'll separate the body from the pan and cut out the old pans.
We'll update here as well.
Thanks for looking,
Matt

So will the car be raffled off when done? Or is this just a cool way to get all your friends to build the car?
Hahahahhaha |

We've talked about 2 different options. Option 1 is for the Club to incorporate as a non-profit and retain ownership. Option 2 is to raffle off the car.
I assure you, I would build this car if could. I just have too many projects as it is. We saw this as an opportunity to save a car and learn useful skills for fellow Club members.
We just scheduled our first session. We're going to pull the body off the pan.
