My 1967 generator light flickers at higher rpms, goes off when low and idling. The regulator does not have a brown ground wire going to it. It has the 3 wires on the front side and a wire in the DF and a wire in the D+ on the back side. Should there be a ground wire from the body to the regulator.
The belt seems fine, but maybe one shim out will take care of the flicker? |

Doubt it's a ground problem as it's working at lower rpms. It could be your belt slipping, but it'd have to be slipping pretty bad for the light to come on. My thought would be worn generator brushes or their springs. _________________ 1960 Ragtop w/Semaphores "Inga" |

Agreed, check the brushes and spring tension. Also look at the commutator and see if the gaps need to be undercut.

I agree, replace the brushes and the springs. |

I went ahead a replaced the regulator with a newer one from my previous 67. It took care of the flickering. The old one when I turned it over the thingymajig on the backside was very worn and almost broken, So it looks like that was the trouble. Now if all the rest of the bug was that easy. |

Yep, sounds like the brushes bouncing. |
