I'd like to say that this forum is remarkable ... I've been lurking around long before even registering. It's guided my search and ultimately I ended up finding an 87 Syncro Wolfsburg in quite nice condition.
Randomly in CA for business, I picked it up and then proceed to drive 1143 miles over the next 29 hours. The trip was epic.
- Stopped at GoWesty to pick up some parts for me and a buddy in Seattle.
- Drove sections of Highway 1 on the coast.
- Stealth camped for the first time ever.
- Enjoyed the massive front windshield watching the world go by.
My kids went nuts when I got home ... their heads exploded when I popped the tent.
Looking forward to our family adventures, tricking out the Syncro and meeting some of you out there at some point.

God didn't like your pride, so he made your kids heads explode as punishment.
anyway welcome to the world of vanagons.
Sounds like you had a nice road trip. too bad you missed Van Café in Santa Cruz, another great vanagon store.
Post some photos of your new van, and the exploded heads!!!

You have just entered a strange new world, that has such people in it. The one issue I've never had with Winston is regrets.
Put your year and model in your signature, search often and well, and you shall be a very happy bloody-knuckled pauper.

I just read in the new issue of National Geographic that Portland does not put flouride in its water, because there are so many people there that do not believe the science of how effective it is for protecting teeth. So perhaps that is why your kids heads exploded?
Heh, anyhow, welcome to the madness!!!
EDIT: For those of you who for some reason lack a sense of humor.....
Dougs reference to Fluoride....... IT IS A JOKE PEOPLE!!!!
No more political rants on Fluoride please.

I too say welcome!
Photos are of course mandatory or we kick you out!
Also details...... What engine are you running, SA Grille?, what mileage does the unit have, color, interior, instrumentation, rust, repaint, etc, etc, etc.
You've begun a magical journey!the entry fee is often affordable but the fees to stay and play can be daunting at times!

I'm delinquent *and* knew I shouldn't have posted without supporting proof! More pictures to come ... I promise!
Ended up driving 1143 miles in roughly 29 hours. My buddy came down from Seattle with his Westy and we installed his bumpers and off he went. I still haven't even washed mine.
Anyone know where I can buy a tachometer to replace my analog clock ... please pm me!

I had to remove your link...... It screwed up the display of the page.
Dave
Ok forget the link I guess id screwed things up
... It appears there are two tachs for sale on the samba now. why the link did not work out right I do not know. Do a search for tachometer for the vanagon parts on the Samba. That was the link I attempted to post.
I have no connection to the sellers, just passing on the info.
By the way nice colored shoe you have!!!! I think I need sun glasses to look at your shoe for more than a few seconds _________________ Help Prevent VW Engine Fires, see this link.....Engine safety wire information

Great to have another Syncro owner.
The more of us out there makes my wife believe I am not as crazy as she thinks when we are always out of money and the Syncro has new stuff!
It was nice to hear your first road trip when without incidents.
