So I got these wheels from CIP1, but the center caps only work on the front. The rears stick out about an inch and won't fit. I need some kind of extension or different chrome cap that will fit a 70mm hole.
Any suggestions would be great.

I found some on ebay to fit my 5 spoke wheels. My openings are also 70mm. I believe that they stick out a little over 2". Do a search on ebay, I bet you can find some to fit your needs. Good luck! |

In San Jose, CA, there's a shop called Hub Cap City. No web site. But here's the yelp page. http://www.yelp.com/biz/hub-cap-city-san-jose
Maybe there's a shop like this in your neck of the woods? |

Thanks guys. I am going to try and fine a local place and try to find something that will work and not look to bad.
I have been looking on ebay, but no luck. The 914 hub looked like it would fit, but different ID.... _________________ 2001 ZO6 (450+hp)

Maybe Flat4 can make you some? They have them for BRMs. _________________

Well, I found some caps that fit tight, but are just a little deep. I could have got away with a 1.25" deep cap, but the best I could find in 2.75" (70mm) width was 2.10" deep cap. They are plastic, but the finish is a perfect match.
Found them at Automotive Super Saver, but they sell mostly on ebay. I got lucky in that they were only 45 minutes from me so I drove there and tried the fit.
Danny was the guy I dealt with and he hooked me up. I highly recommend these guys if you have the same issue I did and there should be a few of us.
Ebay item number is 321670454751.

I just used EMPI spacers on the rear to get the caps to fit. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

Spacers for the wheels or caps? I cannot use wheel spacers because of the backspacing with the rims. 4" backspace puts the rear wheels out to a 1/4" or less from the fender. _________________ 2001 ZO6 (450+hp)

1/4" spacers brought my rear wheels out to 1/4" fender clearance, so I'm good w/205X70 & 185X60. Grind the nose down & taper the end a little.

If I do grind down the nose, I don't think I am going to get an 1"+ out of that. This means I still need a different cap than what came with the wheels and it was hard enough locating the deep ones I did.
I guess it comes down to, how much am I willing to spend... I could change to rear discs, but then I would need to do the front and your talking cash. I just dropped $4k into her this last month, so I will have to live with what I found for a while.
Just putting the info out there in case someone else is in my same boat and there should be a few. _________________ 2001 ZO6 (450+hp)

ISP West was selling some custom billet caps, but yours don't look bad! _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

I have to say that the USA made plastic caps are terrible looking from a chrome perspective. The Taiwan plastic chrome caps match perfect. Something to do with the US regulations on the type of paint or process. When I was at the cap place, it was almost a night and day difference between the two. I think polished Billet would look dull unless chromed. _________________ 2001 ZO6 (450+hp)

I have a different problem. bought 4 new 911 style wheels and the rear ones fit and center cap fits. The front center caps wont go on so I get 3/8" spacers and grease caps still protrude to far out and keep center cap from going all the way on. Brakes are still drum and I don't know what to do next.
Will installing disc brakes on the front cure my problem?
Im not a fan of having to modify the car to make a product make to fit the car doesn't work. Something wrong here. |

I used the ISP-West polished aluminum caps on the Porsche 2L 914 wheels I have on my VW pan based Porsche Speedster Replica. They work and look great. Hidden Allen screws holt them on. The cleared the front speedo drive hub and the rear 36 mm axle shaft bolts.
