Completed over 600 miles for May and 1200 miles since the middle of March.

I think I have 20 miles on the VW... I need to get it out more.

Pretty good! More than I've managed. I'm probably about even mileage bike vs bus. Not enough seat time with either one though.

I completed my first 75 mile ride on Memorial Day in 4 hrs & 12 minutes. Cool Century is in my future! I need to figure out this electrolyte issue. I cramped out at 69 miles and had to walk it out.

Taking any supplements? I like some of the Hammer Nutrition stuff. Perpetuem, Endurolytes etc. For regular rides I don't bother, but if you are really pushing your physical limits they can be a game changer.

I didn't do enough of what I have. I'm going to look into Hammer Gels and Electrolyte pills.

Endurolytes will keep the cramps away

I think I need to increase my input over the miles. I re-read the container of booster I'm drinking and I'm only using half a serving per bottle of water. So there is one place I can gain. I'm also looking into electrolyte pills and some hammer gels.

Electrolytes aside, consider what you are taking in for calories. You need a steady supply of quality calories/aminos to stave off glycogen depletion/lactic acid buildup as long as possible. Perpetuem is good for this. Gels are best for short bursts of energy,20-30 mins or so. I go with plain water and pop a couple endurolyte pills an hour (racing) or like 4 if cramping hard. Usually it's too late by then.

I just replaced my drive train and wheel set the other night. I was riding China Made Carbon Fiber wheels. I found a high spot and decided I didn't want to deal with fixing them. So I picked up a set of Roval Rapide CL 40s, Ultegra 6800 11 speed drive train. I don't know why I ever went to SRAM stuff from Shimano. The double tap concept is bad ass, but they shift so heavy! I did a 10 mile Functional Test Ride today and man I couldn't be happier with my purchase. 30 - 50 tomorrow! Cool

Sram Red shift like a dream...

I've put over 1500 miles on the bike (45 on the VW) this year.

I'm at 1372 miles for the year, but I took 6 weeks off for open heart surgery.

I used to think that too, until I rode my wife's bike with 105 stuff on it. I really loved my SRAM gear, but I'm telling you this stuff is SMOOTH. Wink Plus I like the dark grey look. I couldn't find a SRAM Red Black set for the right price.

cool thread.

been riding for a long time now. not as much now as I used to but trying to get back into it because it feels so good.

used to ride everyday back when I lived in Austin, only drove the vw 2x per month for the aircoolers gang meetings. went through several frames there, all with the same bianchi fixed gear wheel set. vintage Monark frame that followed me home from Stockholm, a Roold frame that was so rusty they gave it to me for free at yellowbike when I wrecked the monark. And then I traded a bentley manual for a Raleigh Record frame and a twenty dollar bill after the Roold got too trashed to ride.

Still have the Raleigh. have an aerospoke front rim on it now. bottom bracket is f-ed and the frame won't take a sealed bottom bracket so I'm about to retire it. still ride it to work and back once a week, thats like a 30 mile trek total. its set up 53x18 fixed.

Also have a Surly Long Haul Trucker that I rode from Austin to San Diego to Seattle back before I moved up to Detroit. 4200 mile ride in 60 days, including about 5 days of non-riding in the big cities along the way. Epic trip. Actually planning on doing another tour from Detroit to New Orleans or maybe Houston this fall. Anyone wanna come along?

Here is the surly and me on top of crater lake

and here is one of the raleigh and surly hanging out together in my living room. third bike is an ex-girlfriends that I had to tune up a bit, but gave it back to her. Have to take a better picture of the raleigh when I get home.

I completed my 1st Century yesterday. I just happen to pick the hottest day of the year. 100 miles in 100 degrees... sucked ass!!! I will do another one in Oct when it's not so hot. Wink

Did a killer ride yesterday with my son, 54 miles @ 17.3 mph average.

Today I did a easy 25 solo and took a break in the nature preserve.

Nice ride dude! I'll post an update pick of mine. I swapped out the Chinese CF wheelset for a set of Rovals and of course the Ultegra drive train. Wink
