Looking for a cool, vintage and of course, inexpensive solution in a horn button. Any ideas?

Which one are you looking for? Something home made on a budget.. or already crafted?

There's New, Used, Stock buttons here.

And VW Horn Button Guy has stock-ish style in many colors .

you can also get a clear one for $6 shipped and paint it yourself if you are really on a budget. Though, paint and really tiny paintbrushes will cost you a few more bucks if you don't already have them. I did one of these to match my car, very tedious job, but came out pretty good.

Cheapo lesson one: you can cover about anything with duct tape. You will loose the cool factor of the original button and the horn push function though.
Bottom line: just get a repro horn button, or search the classifieds on this site for a used original one.
You can get these common vw horn buttons on every corner nowadays; the are being repro-ed in all levels of quality.

And as always: shit comes for cheap, quality costs a little more.

Has anyone attempted to install one of the earlier Wolfsburg Crest horn buttons into the center of a 1974 and up horn button?

If so, please post a picture.

Tim

Put a clock on it, saw that one time and thought it was a cool idea.
