Ha Ha got me  I kept restarting my Mac then went to my PC and the same
thing. I never thought about clicking on them. |

To be honest this did not occur to me but not clicking on random stuff like that is probably a good idea.
But... You can also hover over the text and get a little hint.

this is the second time I got 'fooled' today. Funny thing, I reminded a co-worker yesterday that today was April Fools. I guess I wasn't listening to my own words.

I was actually on to the prank pretty quickly but then dumbed down my original post so as to let more folks enjoy the happiness. I think I have prior art on my DNA anyway, so Samba will lose to my patent lawyers......

I think it was a bad joke. I have already noticed a lot of responses people talking about the red words. Their comments will live on forever and we will end up explaining over and over again what all the reference towards the red words mean.
I personally think this April fools joke was a serious fail.

It depends how you gauge an April Fools joke.
Did it fool people? Yes, a bunch of people thought something was wrong with their computer and/or browser. Or the site was hacked, including that the aprilfools page with the Samba dog was part of the hack.
Did it confuse people? Also Yes.
I got a lot of direct emails/PMs saying it was great.
If you know of any posts where the person asked in a normal thread about the words, go hit on it and I'll clean it up. I don't mind.
I can't and don't read everything but I personally only saw it intermixed inside one thread. I removed all of the comments this am.

Very nice April Fools prank. For a moment I was freaked out but no other site did that. Then I hovered over a link and saw it.

I want to add -that I thought it was great®!
There was a heated discussion on the Vanagon list, and I thought someone was adding the bold red text and ( OK kind of weird) the TM and copyright symbols to emphasize points. I must admit I was surprised when every respondent used the same technique!
So yeah Everette, you got me
