Unfortunately one of the pins in my 383 cap has broken off.

Any ideas for repair idea or replacement.

- solder a new pin in ?
- drill and tap ?

I have one laying around with the same problem.
I thought of drilling a little hole. Not too deep.
And solder a new made pin in.
But I have not tried yet.

Those pins are pretty hardy but today's rubber covered ignition wires are much stiffer that the original cloth covered wires. I would suggest using the cloth covered wires with that cap.

They are asking stupid money for all cast iron distributor and parts.

But do you want to get stuck on the side of the road because you're using a "repaired" distributor cap and it's not like your local Pep Boys has them in stock.
