Found this 69.5mm okrasa/oettinger crank I believe, at Bug O Rama Phoenix last week , has the same markings as my 69.5 Empi 36hp crank made by the early Porsche supplier as well as what I believe are a set of Empi "compact rods" obviously based on the early 356 rod.......however the rod journals on the crank are Porsche size and standard........I cant find any reference to a 69.5 with Porsche journals in the Empi catalogs or any Okrasa lit I have or can find...........anyone have some input? Part of which kit?
thanks

A better picture of the crank would help.

well I know who made it , the crank pic really doesn't matter but it is a large dowel pin crank .........I just want to know if it was in a rare or late Empi/ Okrasa kit or what.........its the fact that its a german crank forged by the same company that made the empi 69.5 36hp crank and has Porsche journals , a combination I have never seen before that interests me.........and what I assume are a set of Empi compact rods......since they aren't marked at all but look just like an early A rod,,,,,,,,,,,maybe its a denzel piece.

With large dowel pins I would think it's for a post 1960 big block which would rule out the Denzel theory. Better picture would help Smile

Looking at the photos, this is a late OKRASA 69.5mm stroke crankshaft with Porsche journals.
Made by AFING as noted by the name stamped in a little "crowfoot" design on the crankshaft.
Cheers. Mr. Okrasa Cool

Added note: more than likely, its at least a 74mm or 78.4mm which was more common.

I don't really understand how a picture will help you remember if you know of a 69.5mm crank with Porsche journals sold by Okrasa.Oettinger, empi or someone else but here it is for your viewing pleasure.....thanks

The name OKRASA or EMPI was always cast onto their crankshafts. The name that was cast onto the crank SOMETIMES was ground off during the balancing process so they would stamp it instead. Now if the crankshaft was re balanced sometime in its life by someone else, they may have removed any factory cast or stamped names/marks including the manufactures name ALFING. I have seen this many times dealing with OKRASA and EMPI crankshafts. Another thing to consider if there are no grind marks, casting marks or otherwise......it may not be neither an nor OKRASA/EMPI crank. Cheers Mr. Okrasa Cool

thanks Joe........it does have the mark. But what 22mm pin pistons did they use with it and the rods........any idea what those rods are? They look identical to early Porsche rods to me but its hard to trust them not knowing their origin. Are they the empi compacts?
thanks

It is stamped 69.5 , that's the one thing I can read and your right it looks like its been rebalanced... I can barely read the numbers and see the partial mark..........I used to sell the 74 and 78.4 back in the day but I don't remember this one at all......

Here is an NOS 36hp Okrasa crank with its name stamped. That little "dimple" is a hardness check mark left by the tool.

So is this a 69mm 40hp crank ??? I was told that 356 rods can't be used on a 69mm crank....ive asked shops if I can use this combo they have told me no ...🤔🤔 its because I'm building a 40hp okrasa and I'm gonna use a 1500 69mm crank and I've asked about using 356/912 rods and been turned down ....
