I recently purchased a 54 oval.
The seats need replaced and I'm wondering if anyone has thoughts at to what other seats could be used that could also be reclined.
Thanks, |

Take a tape measure and measure your current seats, go to the junkyard and find seats that fit and then you are going to have to adapt them to work with the Volkswagen seat sliders. In my old 68 bug, I cut up a set of scrap stock bug seats for the bases and bolted my seats, from a '94 Dodge shadow, to those to work with the VW seat track. Don't go hacking up your '54 seats. _________________ Formerly known in the forums as "OVALTEEN"

No kidding, if you have the stock 54 front frames let me know! Only thing on my car that isn't stock.
I'll swap you the 57 seats I have
Using the bottom of stock vw seats to mount modern seats to is good way to accomplish this |

That's the same thing I did in my '68.
Make sure the seats come out of a 2 door vehicle. That way they will flip forward to allow access to the rear seat. 4 door front seats likely won't have this feature. I had seats from a Nissan 240SX and the passenger seat also slid forward on it's stock tracks to easily get in and out of the back seat. _________________ www.tunedperfection.com |
