Vittone hit 150mph with a 36hp powered Ghia the other day, did I read that right?

Not quite right...it was a 36hp based engine using the original 36hp case and hit 141mph over the Mojave Mile. I'm sure Burly will be along to fill in the details. Smile

He spent a small fortune turning an old 25hp block into a monster that would run over 140 mph. Gotta love it. I wish the video would have shown his face. All smiles. Now let's see if he or someone else can reach 150mph with a vintage vw based motor. Have fun and be safe.

Question I suggest you click on your loudspeaker icon and turn your sound on. Laughing

The video has a very healthy soundtrack. Very Happy

Yes, Darrell did a 141 pass and Dick Simon did a 116 pass in his Ghia with a Super Stock Single (single 28 PCI carb). It was a fantastic day for 36ers in the desert.

congratulations on the 141 mph pass !! Impressive.

Just curious about what appeared to be 'smoke' around the gauges at the end of the video.

Obie, Darrell experienced a small oil leak at the oil filter on this first run and the resulting smoke found it's way inside the drivers compartment area. A new oil filter from the local Napa store resolved the problem.
