Hey guys,

I've been sandblasting suspension components and came across this. I have a couple of questions:

1. What side does this backing plate go on?
2. Should I just replace it due to damage?

I'll take a stab at it.

Right rear backing plate.

Other than the star adjuster spring tab, what damage?

Thanks semper.

On the bottom pick, there is an area that is rusting through on the top.

I believe that's a Beetle part anyway. Should be enough around at this point. Not cost effective to repair.

Go into the technical section ad download the parts pdf. Anything with a part number starting with a "111" is Beetle part, 211 is a bus part,....generally .

The "181" are Thing specific.
