So after putting my refreshed 1600 in my 65 bug i had oil leaks. So after i got them to stop i still have some oil leaking out of the top of the oil pump. (seems that's where it is coming anyways). I went ahead and took it back off put all fresh gaskets on it and still leaks and its leaking on my exhaust. Is there anything i can do to stop this or maybe a trick? Anything will help. Thanks for your time.

Are you sure the oil slinger is on the crankshaft properly? The leak would be right at the top of the oil pump.

It isn't part of the oil pump. It is the big tapered washer on the end of the crankshaft.

he motor ran when I got it and I never touched that part its not pouring out but still enough for it to get on my exhaust and burn off and smell so I will check that. so I am guessing if it is on wrong I will have to take the motor apart to fix the issue or............... anything will help and thanks for clarifying that vwsteve

I assumed the motor was apart since you said it was refreshed. Yes, the case would have to come apart to fix it. Do you by any chance have a bad (or cheap aftermarket) crankshaft pulley?
Oil pumps do leak quite often but not usually at the top. That is why I suspect it is coming out around the crankshaft.

It is a stock pulley . Should I order up a new pulley and see if that will solve the issue?

If leaking from pulley, there are a couple of easier things to check first.

Do you have a breather hose from oil filler to carb air cleaner? If so is the hose clear of oil/water mayo like stuff?

Check that both valve cover gaskets have not drooped open at center top.

Pull pulley and clean out the oil return grooves in it.
