Hi guys, here is my dash rebuilding experience.
This is a modified dash, but you could do the same with your original one.

original dash with some extra instruments simulation:

rebuilding lower part with PU:

now filling the cracks and giving shape:

a paint coat to correct final details:

once the shape was ready, I applied this magic product for texture:

after it dried, just a soft sand over it and applied black mate paint (several layers)

hope this encourages someone to rebuild their dash... It took me a long time to encourage myself and decide how to repair this with the available stuff in the market.

Wow! Looks fantastic. Is that expandable foam (Great Stuff) that you used to build up the dash? And just plain bondo after that?

- Yes, its expandable PU foam (polyurethane), normally you can get this in cans. Its tricky to apply, but once it dries you can cut and sand very easily...

- Yes, just plain bondo... the PU surface is full of bubble holes, so the bondo grabs very firm to it.

Again, fantastic! Simple enough steps for anyone to follow and hopefully succeed.

The polyurethane expandable foam I'm familiar with is called Great Stuff and they sell many different types (depending on the intended use) at all hardware stores.

I must confess that the upper part of the dash cracked again after one year... so in the end I had to put one of those empi dash covers over it.

this is how it looks now:
