'83 Rabbit Alternater

I just picked up a nice '83 Rabbit Convert. (gas). Everything is in great condition.
However, at the same time, I am getting rid of a '83 Vanagon diesel (to be parted out). Only thing I could think of that might be interchangeable, was the alternator. I saved it.

Is it going to fit the Rabbit gas engine if I ever need it??

My old parts manual says this:

The Vanagon used an AL25X.

The 83 Rabbit Convertible used an AL22X.

I don't know if they are interchangeable.
