|
|
Hello...I have some brand new Sprintstars by BBT that I just pulled out of the boxes and mounted on my Beetle about three weeks ago...they are starting to peel and flake and I was wondering if anyone else had this problem? I did an Internet search and could not find any other mention of this problem...
I guess I'll have to blast and repaint them |

Bad prep before they laid down the black. That sucks. _________________ Justin |

Your misfortune is a terrific warning for anyone thinking of running those! Thanks for the heads up. I'm close to choosing those for my DC project- and now I know they need to be immediately blasted and PC'd prior to mounting. _________________

Sorry for your issues...I also have the BBT sprints as of 1 year now. Mine are also pealing in a few spots. Best thing to do (that they don't tell people) is that you NEED to strip these and refinish when you buy them. BBT states they are powdercoated but I personally think they are more of an aluminum spraypaint. This stuff chips off so easy, I feel like I am touching up spots all the time. I think they are great wheels...just need a lot of extra work to rock them for daily driving status. I just got around to repainting mine a couple months back...followed by a 3 clearcoats.
These wheels are made in China and have the same crappy clearcoat that is put on the repro BRMs etc. |
