How can I remove the plenum with engine in the car? I cannot figure out the way to remove the nut next to the firewall since it is hidden behind the throttle assembly. I managed to remove one flat head screw that attaches the throttle to the plenum but the other just won't budge
Is it even possible to remove the nut with throttle body and engine in place?
Thanks,
Michael |

Im not sure its possible, it will be tight anyway. The eye for the bolt is quite hidden behind the TB. Have you tried to tighten the other screw again to reduce the force on the stuck one?

You can do it....and as Lars noted.....it is VERY tight......and very ffrustrating. You need to lower the engine slightly and remove the runners and all or the nuts/bolts holding the plenum until you can tilt it up slightly pivoting on the bolt you have no access to at the rear.
The first time I had to remove a plenum this way I took an older wrench and ground and bent it to get at the nut.
After I was finished I think i reversed that bolt to have better access to the nut for the next time. Ray |

Thanks guys. I tried to undo the stuck one with the other tighten without success the passing weekend. I will give it a couple more try this week before I go with the hard route |

Finally got it out today. Did not know I can actually undo the nut from the bolt side of the engine |

Been there! dont beat your head. Its hard to see....and I swore it was a stud long ago when I first ran into this.
I flipped the bolt around on mine because there was easier access from the other side. Ray |

I was so glad when I found it is not a stud. I have spent weeks trying to get this sucker off from the other side. |
