|
|
My daughter's boyfriend, Corey, inherited a 56 kombi from his late father. He's 17 so he doesn't have much in the way of money or skills but he's a great kid and I want to help him fix up his bus. I restored my Ghia and have a complete woodshop so I'm hoping to get my hands on a set patterns for the interior panels. Where can I find these? I'm also looking for information and examples of what others have done with their busses for inspiration. In for a penny, in for a pound, so we may as well get creative. Maybe a camper interior? Or just fabric covered panels. What do you think?

-First off ignore the Private messages to sell off that rare bus. 56 kombi's are hot sellers-
See what you like in person as far as interior etc. plus its a good thing your in southern California. Great show coming up in Long beach CA called OCTO. Lots of cool buses to see with camper kits or original factory interior. I highly recommend you attend this great bus show |

Wow, that's lucky. We'll go. What about patterns? Are there any to be had? |

Here's the interior for a 56-57 Kombi bus.
Future son in law may have to be a full time paper boy to afford these.

here is a link that should give inspiration, and idea of cost for a camper interior:

Those cabinets look amazing.
I think he wants to do a more custom interior, hippy style? I can pop out panels of masonite in a flash but I'd rather not have to make the patterns from scratch if I could away with it. |

these are full on copies of westfalia interiors of the period. This is what you want, unless you want custom _________________ regards

if it really is a kombi model then it wouldn't have interior panels in the back unless it was ordered that way
and then it would only have basic grey panels like the front would have
a lot of non-bus people confuse kombis with standard easiest way to tell is if it has headliner claws on the airbox or a channels for a panel to slide into
if it was a camper then it would have whatever wood panels the camper company would have made for it
BTW I have tried to make the panel myself and it is a lot of work to get them to look right
if money is a big concern clara offers her panels in unfinished form which is less expensive then the finished ones and you can paint them yourself or leave them plain _________________ '60 15 window walkthrough

This is all I have, so far. Gotta get him to roll the bus out so I can really check it out. Maybe this weekend.

I'll have to ask him (the owner). I think he may have its birth certificate. |
