Well it'd definitely be a bit easier if I ran to the firewall like those do, but I'm not ready to commit to making the roll cage for inside yet.lol

I picked up some more tube to use for joining two tubes together so I can connect two 90's close together- closer than my limited bender will allow. Given I don't poop out by the time I get home hopefully I'll have some pics tomorrow

I have no doubt that you could cage that in a day or two.

It was real hard to get it symmetrical and I hated it at first. I'm trying to decide whether I need to add some lights to or whatnot. Thinking of making a tab plate for my ORV and trail stickers so I can swap them off to another vehicle and save some moola.

In the middle of spring cleaning the shop, then sand blasting and painting parts. Gonna do my grill/smoker while I'm at it. It's amazing how much metal dust and crud I had sitting on everything.

haha yeah well they can sue me and then try to prove it was theirs. You would really get nervous if you knew what I used on the front bumper lol

It didn't exactly turn out the way I had intended because like I said the 7" CLR of my bender was too big to accomplish what I wanted, but I don't think it turned out too bad.

I find that most of my work get improvised as I go along. Nothing ever looks just like my sketches. Maybe that will improve with time.

Although the profile of your front one does look suspiciously like a school crossing one, lol.

It's a stop sign. I think I had to rim a bit off the top but it was amazing how well it actually matched the shape of the bumper tubing.

I have a source for these signs and they've all been deemed 'junk' and can't be used anymore. The stop sign was faded to the point it was almost white and that back skid plate was one of those arrows you see in a turn and had been wrapped around the post. I started collecting them because the back sides make great canvases to practice my airbrushing. That's something I haven't had much time recently to do, unfortunately.

I was a project manager for a pipeline company at one time, and in laying water mains and such, we had to take out signs. The public works contracts stipulated that all materials installed had to be brand new, no recycled or re-used materials allowed. So all signs we took down had to be replaced with brand new ones. This left a large pile of signs and posts in the company yard. Some of those square tube perforated sign posts became shed wall studs and others became trailer stabilizers. A friend of mine was making Baja rear fenders out of the sign plates and selling them. He felt it sensible to remove the paint from the underside of them with a heavy wire brush in a grinder. That stuff is amazingly tough.

The sign with the running people could be turned into an ethnic joke, but I won't. I've always thought it terribly crude and low class that people "Pee" in public. There used to be a 90° turn sign in front of my house that said 10mph, but a friend adjusted the sign for me.

The bumper looks good Axitech. Similar design to the 1970s Hobrecht firewall mount cages, but shock mounted.

yes going to the firewall would have made bending much easier. I will never do any hard hitting driving with this rig, that's what my woodsbuggy is for. So this will work great for keeping me from backing into things and tearing up my exhaust or gods forbid someone rear ending me. I'll still have to watch out for backing into trees and taking out my turn sigs though. lol Not that I would EVER do such a silly thing!
