I am told that 914 2 liter rocker arms are different than type 4 bus/vanagon rockers. Unfortunately the rockers from a 2 liter engine I am putting together were inadvertently mixed in with some bus rockers. Can anyone tell me how to identify them? They all look the same except the casting numbers. |

No.....2.0 rocker arms are the same as 1.7L rocker arms in ratio i am fairly sure...all accept the 8mm adjusting screw.....the do the difference being that some 2.0l rocker arms may already clearanced for the 911 style swivel feet. All type 4 engines had the same rocker ratio....411/412/bus or 914.
Most of the middle years bus....with 1.8s had the 10mm adjusting screws. I think the late bus 2.0 had the opportunity 10mm adjusting screw as well.
A quick comparison can be set up by mounting four of them across on a rocker shaft...making sure that the pushrod end is resting at the same height on all...and look at the angle and length of the valve end.
There were some mfg variations as well. There are some rockers that are off by a few degrees. I usually set up a nig with a stub cut off a pushrod to make sure the whole set is the samE.
As far as I am aware....they are all the same ratio in type 4 engines. Ray |

The rocker arms for 1.7 , 1.8 & 2.0
VW/PorscheType 4's have the same rocker ratios. None of these rockers are clearenced from the factory for 911 valve adjuster screws. 1.7 & 1.8 rockers have 8.0mm valve adjustment screws and 2.0 rockers have 10mm valve adjustment screws. 911's have 8.0mm valve adjustment screws. Only the 1.7 & 1.8 rockers can be clearenced to work with 911 swivel feet valve adjustment screws. This a great upgrade over standard valve adjustment screws. _________________ If you hear these words then get out of the way, "Hey Ya'll, Watch this!!!". |

Yes, Pauter and I believe Tarret makes them. These are roller rockers though. I know for sure Pauter Machine makes them in 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 ratios.
