Does anybody know what to look for? I just bought this one that has a 57 pan. Is there any variance in the body to indicate what year or generation? Would there be a serial number if it was built by/at empi?

Its has a reduction box adaptors too. Empi parts?

A serial number plate riveted to the top rear of the tunnel would be a real solid indicator.

It looks like that's one of the later style with the offset hinge on the windshield frame, The earlier models had knobs and a lollipop shaped pivot plate for the windshield.

You should add it to this thread http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=420811

Hello Franz,

Awesome find! Don't hesitate to post the pics on the Roll call section.

Body looks pretty good, the window frame looks like it was replaced some time ago.

You got paperwork for it?

Get the engine and go for a ride!

Tony
