|

So I wanted to share my new project. I purchased it a few weeks back and have been organizing all the bits and pieces it came with. Pretty complete and rust free car for this day and age. It has been in storage since I think '95. The car was originally sold in Germany and brought over by a service man. I have all kinds of paper work on it. It does have some body damage that I will need to attend to.
As I said fairly complete. I am missing the dome light, headlight switch, arm rest and Zwitter manifold. But it came with tons of parts. I am excited about the build, but want to finish my Kombi first.
I do have a paint question. I plan on getting the birth cert, but it takes so long these days. I believe the color is Metal Blue, but there is lots of mixed data on the dates available for this color. This is a January '53 car. The interior seats look to be gray or green vinyl very dirty hard to clean, original material but maybe not original to the car. What vinyl seats colors were offered in '53, and does this look to be Metal blue on the ash tray, rear window and behind the VIN plate?

First of all, congrats on the score. I, too am working on a October of '52 Zwitter. On the color, it looks to be L 37 Medium blue but not 100% sure. On the interior, as far as I know the Zwitters had a pattern called Fishbone. I did get an original panel with my car and let me tell you it is a very cool looking pattern. Here's a link in this split forum where you can source the patterns and colors: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=452940&start=200. You've got some very good ultra rare Zwitter only parts but that dome light is proving difficult for me to find as well so good luck with that one. Nice score and good luck with the build. I'm a bus guy as well and would love to see the other project as well. |

Looks like you got yourself the build-your-own-zwitter package .
Seems to be very complete with all the pictured parts. That will save you lots of time since you don't have to source those fairly rare zwitter bits and pieces. Do you have the Vin tag as well?
Good luck with the restoration. _________________ drive it like you just robbed the bank

Are you really sure with metalblue? What about azurblue?
By the way, the greybeige fabric is now in stock for both colours.
