I wanted to add an oil cooler to my Type 3 engine .
The options were limited...one adapter was $72.....When I bought the cooler it came with a type 1 fitting
I took it to the local speed shop and found the Blue fitting in the photo with the hole for the pressure guage

Hi Pete. I'm guessing you do not want to full flow the case and add the cooler to that circuit, judging by the photo of that adaptor.
I seem to remember about 20 years ago seeing a device advertised that, on a type 1 engine application fit under the factory oil cooler, between the cooler and the case, that allowed an outlet and a return for an additional cooler. This set-up kept the factory cooler within the shroud. In fact, as I typed this I looked in an EMPI catalog and it showed such a device. It is part number 17-2873.
While I am not a fan of the empi line of parts, it is an option.
Hope this helps, Bill. |

Yeah, no problem, Pete.
Also, would the in-and-out oil pump work with the type 3 fan housing? This way the stock cooler is untouched.
Check out EMPI number 16-9702 and 16-9713.
CB Performance has em too. Numbers 1798 and 1799.
Looks like either way you go is kinda thinking outa da box, as these parts aren't commonly used much, I'm guessing.
I'm hoping either way you go will include an oil filter.

And look at the CB Performance PN 1790. Same thing, I guess. Made in the USA.

Talkied to the parts guy and he said the adapter raises the oil cooler 1/2 an inch and the tins wouldn't fit...thanks for the input _________________ 63 two fold rag
