|
|
Hi Ghia gurus,
I am in need of a little more of the wisdom that this forum has brought me over the past couple years, primarily this time in the case of the hood seal as well as my dash pad..
I am about 80% through my restoration and these are the last 2 pieces of my puzzle that shouldn't be a total pain in the rear (knock on wood.) Just looking for a little guidance/tips/tricks to get these installed correctly..
The first: hood seal. I have it pictured in two ways - I think the first way is correct. Just looking to verify!
OR
Seal in question is from CIP, so I believe it is a West Coast Metric product.
The second: new dash pad. Any special adhesives that work best? I'm thinking rubber cement per the installation instructions, however I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask what others have used with success/fail.
Thanks!! |

Deck lid seal...#2. It only covers the lower half.
Dash pad...pic? Ive heard velcro works well, original, pre 68, the handle through bolts on passenger side and had nylon/plastic nuts. |
Thanks again Darrel! Definitely helps as this was stumping us a bit.
The dash pad is the one from CIP. They recommended rubber cement which I just picked up. It should be OK for the job (as we tried another adhesive but it clearly didn't work), so we are removing the previous glue and re-trying with the recommended rubber cement. It is fairly heavy so it will need the bonding power.

As Darrel implies the rear of the car is the "deck lid" or "engine cover" and the front of the car the "front hood" or "luggage trunk". Makes the world of difference when ordering seals. |
Thanks John for the technical correction. It seems like they work both ways and everyone says them different. One of these days (3 years into ownership), I will catch on. |
