If I had hair, I would have pulled it all out tonight!
I back track... Today I drove down to Grants Pass, happy to be picking up some calipers from a friend. Got back and waited for the evening breeze and got the caliper off the car, unhooked the hose and installed the new hose to the hard line. Then, I grabbed the new to me caliper and realized it was an early unit. So... On I push and hook up the old caliper to the new brake line. No bueno! It is definitely the caliper that is the issue.
Anyone have a late caliper they would part with? I'll trade ya two earlies! I need this car driving... augh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Do you have a link? Every time I look, it is for the earlier caliper up to mid 1970.
Thanks! _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

unfortunately, one of the things about rock auto is that there are no links...
here's whats listed for 72-73 only
when you go to rockauto, use the blue part number search with these part numbers.

If you can't afford 4 VW's then sell a couple of them so you have money for the others. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

Pulled the caliper and pulled the pads. Reinstalled and filled reservoir. Proceeded to pump the crap out of the brakes to see if the piston would pop. No luck. The inner is frozen solid. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Keep the outer pad in place. Only remove the inner pad so that all of the pressure in on the inner piston. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Tried that too. Stuck! I'm not wanting to pull the unit apart, but that seems to be next. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Wow.. been an up and down day. I've put 500 miles on the truck chasing calipers. I now have 3 units to build 1 good one out of. So, hopefully, soon I will be driving this car. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Dry it off and scuff the joint with sandpaper. Apply JB weld and let it sit overnight. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.
