Well, I am not sure yet. I think it is the set screw hole being ovaled out. I will check it more later.

Been waiting many weeks for the DMV to send me my title. Today I received a letter saying I submitted an invalid title.

CRAP! Hoping the seller rectifies this ASAP.

Can you say bummed?

If you got an Oregon DMV letter saying the VIN is invalid, you take a pic of the VIN on the dash or under the tunnel, print it out, and send it back to the DMV. That's it.

Usually it's just a transposed or dropped number that the Or DMV took a couple decades to notice. Rolling Eyes

Nope. They issued the VIN a new title number in 2001
I was given the old title and told it was the only one.

Nope! Already could run the pink car for the up coming event. So... this will get some love again. I didn't want to put $ into it if I couldn't drive it.

So today I finished the brakes. Nice pedal, good pressure. Checked all the bearings in the front end for any wiggle, nothing. So then I checked the tie rod ends that had been replaced, they're fine too. All that can be left is the steering damper. If it is indeed the damper, who currently sells new ones for a late type 3?

Other thing you might have besides a tire/ wheel issue or loose upper torsion arm is a very badly warped rotor from having been driven with a locked caliper.

Brian, good way to tell if the carpet is original is the heater grommets: original has a nice molded insert versus stitching.

Had to post this, as made a huge mistake throwing out the moldy carpet without grabbing the grommets. Rolling Eyes To top it off, the light blue carpet is no longer available.

Looks like a fun project and glad another example gets to keep the fuel injection. Good luck!

So... there is no way this car was a 'driver' as the PO proclaimed. Rolling Eyes The driver's side set screw for the sway bar is MIA and the Right side torsion bar bolt was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay loose!

That will get sorted this week.

Anyone know the size, pitch and length of the set screw?

Hey Tram, thank you for your persistence! After triple checking everything in the front end, I decided to pull the front wheels and tires and swap them with known good wheels and tires. Alsong with the prior front end adjustment and replacement of missing bolts, the front end no longer shakes! Everything else done prior to the tires, while needed, did not solve the issue.
Tram had it right. Thank you again!

Next time you go off to buy a car you better take me with you! I would have taken one look at that thing and said "no, not this one- we're here for the one in the ad!" Laughing
