Nope, no center defrost.
Large side windows: gotta be a '65 body.

67 interior door locks have the button on top. Not in the handle. |

So now that you know it's not legit the question is What are you going to do about it?
You said the seller was willing to take it back if you found it was not correct... But you do still have a pretty clean car there. If you really wanted a '67 and paid a premium... otherwise I would still see if you could get some money back from the seller. Just remember it may not have been the most recent PO's doing. |

Can't imagine why it matters unless there's a reason you wanted a 67?
That's a nice looking car, I'd just drive it proudly and not worry about the year. |

I think there is plenty of proof otherwise. It's got so many extra holes drilled in the dash- I'd see if it was raced and wrecked. The dash holes look like a tach mount was there. And the chopped radio hole might have housed other gauges. It used to have an aluminum dash skin on there- so who knows, it may have been a Baja or an escapee from the 80s.
I'd nitpick that car. Lift it or get under it and really check it out. Under the seat, see if the transmission hump tar board around the VIN looks factory! Many a loser has stolen a car and welded in a new VIN panel. Your car makes me real suspicious. _________________

The body looks older than '66 as the dash is missing the center vent added in '66
oops now I see 60ragtop has already covered it
I vote for '65 body with earlier front turn signals |

It is a '65 body on a '67 chassis. Not a real big deal. Like I said before, legally it is a '67. The numbers match the paperwork so you are ok there. If you had your heart set on a '67, then you might reconsider your purchase. But if you are fine with the way it looks and drives, keep it. You could always put on the later front turn signals and complete the picture. If anyone ever asks the year, just tell them it's a '65. The only other discernible would be the front end and if it has a '67 trans it would have long axles. But most folks wouldn't realize that immediately.

If I sold a car that looks that good and the new owner came back wanting money, I would tell him to jump in the lake. That looks better than a 67 any day. If it is not right for then get rid of it because you will probably only hate it more later. Personally I love it. |

The body is pre 66, as there are no air vents on the upper dash.
For reference......

Another thing to check is weather or not someone changed the numbers on the tunnel....Take the inspection plate off and feel under the numbers for sighns of welding...Easy to finnish off the top but if someone welded in new numbers it will show on the bottom....
YES I have seen this done ! _________________ 63 two fold rag

It could be pre-'67 on a '67 pan, PO might have not known/bought it that way. Not uncommon to put an earlier body on a later pan.
It could be a pre-'67 on a 67 pan and the PO is aware and trying to pull a fast one on you.
Or, it could be something criminal. Try to determine if the VIN number is stamped into the pan or if it's bet cut and welded into your pan. Where is that VIN plate? It should be in the bonnet under the washer bottle and brake fluid reservoir.
Here's a like on the 1967 one-year-only stuff. Try to see if you can use it to determine if the pan really is a '67 the engine may give you some clues too.

From the pics you've posted, it looks like a nice car.

Here's a novel idea - see if the pan's VIN has been cut and rewelded... _________________
