|
|
Hello, I was wondering if anyone out there can give me some insight on the best way to treat the inside of the center hump. I can see there is some surface rust inside. I am doing a full restoration and I don't want to leave this section untouched. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Depends on your build. Eastwood has an internal frame coating you can consider:

Or, if the pan is off, you can cut the bottom of the chassis tunnel off and sand or blast in there, and paint. _________________ Plate of shrimp |

Thanks guys, the pan is off and I am in the process of changing the nap hat and the bulk head plate. So I thought it would be a good time to tackle that as well. I'm going to check into that spray. What kind of prep was needed before the spray? Thanks again!! |

Before I had the pan media blasted I blew out and picked up as much crud (there will be plenty) as I could from the tunnel. Then I took a higher pressure hose and some purple power degreaser and ran that through several times. Then I ran my shop van blowing air into the tunnel along with a heat gun to get things dried out.
Sent to media blast. Blew the tunnel out again and coated with the eastwood stuff.
It has a really low viscosity so it gets into all the nooks and crannies. The nozzle is perfect too. I ended up connecting two of the hoses together to get a longer reach. You really can get to everything through all the access points already in the pan.
There is a thread showing different products and their ability to handle additional corrosion. They all didn't too well, but I feel better (for whatever that's worth) knowing the pan is coated in something to help slow rust. They also offer it in black now instead of the chromate green.
Good luck! _________________ -Ryan
