Is it possible to remove the protruding bar from the ball of the early style shifters for use with the later style shift rod receiver that isn't slotted? Has anyone done this?
I really would like to have the angled shifter as opposed to the straight shifter.\\ _________________ 1968 Type 1 - Royal Red --- Built: September, 1967

If you use a stock angled shifter, I believe you need a shift rod that has the slot in the cup.

If you remove the locating pin from the curved shifter you will have nothing to keep the shifter from rotating. What you instead need to do is cut a slot for the pin into the shift rod cup so the curved shifter cannot rotate. _________________ Brian
