as the subject is written , went to adjust linkage to get reverse and now the shift arm on trans is locked - now what? acts like it is between gears

alright so I removed the trans is there any upgrade I can do far as the clutch ?

You can source a clutch kit for a 1991/1992 210mm GTI 8 valve (16 valve has a larger input shaft on the transmission). You'll have to get a 210mm flywheel, that will all fit in your existing transmission.
