I have an aftermarket turn signal switch from JBugs, and every time I install it it blows a fuze! I already looked for a pinched wire, but that does not seem to be the case. It looks like the wire terminals may be shorting against the ignition switch screws. It works fine if it is hanging there just not when it is installed. Has anyone had this issue before? How do I remedy it? (Short of buying a NOS switch)

Ok, I exchanged the aftermarket turn signal switch with another one from Jbugs and I am still having the same problem! When it is completely mounted in the steering column it blows a fuse when the ignition is turned on, but when it is just hanging by the wires it works fine! It has to be shorting on something inside the column, but what? How can I fix it? It is not pinching the wires and all wire colors are matched up correct! Confused [/list]

What is the manufacturer or brand of the switch? That would be much more helpful than knowing where you bought it. Also, what year and model car do you have? I can list your brand options for NOS and aftermarket switches, and I'll provide links on where to find each one. In general, you should not buy anything from a shop that doesn't name its brands.

To say something that you already know, your switch is apparently shorting to ground when it is installed, and you may be able to figure out where the short is located with a close inspection.
