What model do you think this bus is and what is it worth as is?

Any idea?

Yes, 13-Window Deluxe.
It looks Velvet Green? That would make it a 65-66 Bus.
(Velvet green is 65-67 but it has a pre-67 gas door)

Hard to say the value from that single photo.
It could be rusted out down low. Or not.

I just checked the license plate, it's a '66. The past owner said they sold the bus to a nice man in...

Just kidding...but seriously, don't post pictures like this until it's in your driveway. You' risk getting sniped.

Okay, while I toggle between sea blue and velvet on is thing, I'm left with a big question. Is that a '58 decklid?

If so, it changes everything as far as original paint buses are concerned- and everyone guessing so far may be off in color. You really need to back that baby out of the tomb. My value guess also hinges on the presence/absence of the middle seat. On value so far? I'm withdrawing $7500 from the bank if I get the call.

Oh, and the model? It's a 251 or 241 depending on the middle seat length.

probably one of those Brazilian decklids it's not the same shade as the rest and I think that's the push button handle at the bottom of the pic

Futher to my Sea Blue thing above, looking at it again, I think I have to agree with Everett that it looks like Velvet Green. The decklid looks different. And, is it just me or is there something very faint written on the rear corner just above the light housing?

It looks like a great find because it has been sitting in that building getting dusty and surrounded by stuff. I like seeing pics like that. Cool

This looked like a nice bus. It was listed at an estate auction in Maryland. Anyone get it? There was a '63 Beetle listed as well with lots of other classic cars. The license plates on the bus looked like old Maryland plates from the 70's. Nice "barn find"!

My brother bought the bus at the auction. It's his first bus. The bus was sitting in the garage under the house since 1974. Very, very solid bus with only the middle and passenger seat missing. Otherwise everything is there and original including the paint. It was a true barn find and his winning bid of $10,500 made it a steal. Thanks to a friend of mine who follows estate auctions for coins, etc., he noticed this bus and knowing I'm a bus guy he made me aware of the sale.

Now the search is on for the passenger seat!

The bus's first bath in 41 years.

Anyone willing to decode the vehicle ID plate? Still not sure if it's a full or 3/4 length middle seat?

Your brother got an amazing deal on that awesome bus. The M codes are easy to find under the technical section upper right corner. Your first 2 are fairly common ones , starting with 081 should be - walkthrough ; 114 - 6 popout windows; 130-deluxe without sunroof or skylight windows.

Nice Bus!

On the M-code plate where it says 2512:
251 = model # = Short middle seat.
Long middle seat is 241 instead

You can also tell by looking at the mounts on the cargo floor or at the cargo mat, if it's still there. It will be set up for the seat you need.
