Thanks tallman206 I was racking my brain trying to find it. I have came across a few now after looking and it's safe to say they are normally about $3-3500? |

Almost complete, but total unknown quantity as far as compression, oil pressure, leakdown, etc: I'd say $1500, if it spins freely, MAX is what I'd pay for it.
YMMV
It's a pig in a poke. |

What is the engine number? Quite a few of us looking for the proverbial needle-in-the-haystack. Any chance it is 742227? |

Hello. I find it interesting as to what satanic said about the price difference. I'm not arguing this but if I was the seller I would have it set-up to start and run on the ground and state if someone wanted to perform a compression test/leakdown test in order to get the big bucks. It is done with carb'd vw engines all the time.
Hope this helps, Bill. |

I'm with you 100% Bill. Install a flywheel and bellhousing, hook up a starter, battery and oil pressure gauge, then the price goes up, WAY up if the numbers are good.
Get it fired up with a fuel supply and exhaust, warmed up and it's worth even more.
It's just too much an unknown quantity for a buyer like me, at least in its current state. Can pretty much only value it at the price of the external components I see present. |
