Thought I'd post up my current project, and original paint Mignonette '59. This car is SUPER straight, and there isn't one single rust hole anywhere. The cool part about it is that is has all '58 parts. It has the '58 and earlier 4 tab hood, the '58 front clip area by the brake fluid reservoir, '58 only cigar ash tray, '58 and earlier rear seat bar supports, and the '58 and earlier rear seat stops. Here are some pics of when I got it, and the progress I've made so far....

Had to section in some wiring, it had a small engine fire at some point, but didn't seem to hurt a lot except the wiring. I replaced it with factory wiring from a harness I pulled out of another '59 I had....
More progress pics....
Dash is buffing out nice....
Started stripping parts and painting....
I painted the tank black, but I may redo it gray like it's supposed to be...
Brakes are about done, all the drums are dated 58...

Man, those pics you sent me via text really don't do this car justice. Now that I see them on the big screen, its a very cool car, and is coming together nicely. Its going to be very cool once done. _________________ WANTED: Henry Veale Santa Rosa plate frames

Lol, yup, that's my brother in laws bug that I'm selling for him. I think it's going to be heading to Germany soon! I've been looking for original paint tail light housings and an original paint license light housing, no luck yet. I'm leaving my car original paint and I didn't want to try to match paint it, but I may have to. It's funny how I'm seeing a lot of Mignonette cars after getting mine, what are your plans for yours? |

Ha thats funny man, I didnt realize you were Stacey's bro in law, he was up here for a visit last month and was telling me about your bug while looking at mine. Stacey and I go back a long time man. Plan's, eh jut gonna make it a decent looking driver, not fully restoring but will get a repaint and new interior as well as a rebuilt 36. Unfortunately the PO stripped the paint to metal and then let it sit outside but it's pretty damn solid so i'll do it a bit of justice I suppose. |

I've known Stacey for years, his sister and I have a son together. We aren't together anymore, but Stacey and I were friends before I dated her and we're still good friends, he's coming over in a few for a bbq. If you need anything for yours let me know, I always have or come across 58-59 parts. 58-59's have been my favorite years and usually about all I like to build. Yours looks like an awesome start too, any rot anywhere! |

Cool, I believe I have pretty much everything for it minus the bottom rear seat section but my buddy says he thinks he has one stashed somewhere. If I come across anything I'm missing though I just might hit ya up on that. It has (had) rot at the bottom of the driver door but I already got that all sorted out, bottom rear pass quarter panel had a lil and is awaiting some new metal there. A few areas in the front and rear window channels.
Yours is super clean man and will be a nice car when all done! |

Thanks man! I'm actually working on mine now. Just got some parts from Wolfsburg West so I've been doing some work on it. I can't wait to get it on the road, I'm definitely getting close! |

I got a few more things done, just about ready to fire it up!
Buffed it out some more....
Prepped the pan for POR-15...
Installed a NOS choke cable...
Installed new German battery cables....
Restored the reserve valve....
And just putting things back together and cleaned and painted other parts..

I am so jealous of the califirnia rust free rides. but looks like this one found the right owner. Nice work bringing it back! _________________ 67 zenith blue sunroof

Thanks, I really appreciate that! This was an original California car that had been in Montana for quite some time, I'm wondering if it was kept inside out there? I'm definitely glad it's completely rust free, rust repair gets very expensive and very time consuming. I can't wait to actually drive this one. Lol |

Looking good man! Progress has been slow on mine the last few weeks with other thing's going on but getting some things done here and there, hoping to have the pan done and ready to go back under in the next week or two. Then back onto the body. My buddy has my motor and is almost done with that but he knows I'm not in a big hurry for it yet so whenever really, might actually drop my big bore 40 in it for awhile when that time comes. I've never actually ran it in a bug and I'm kinda interested to see how it does, I know it will push my bus with a T3 trans and SA kit down the road at 65 no problem. |

Still plugging along, did some more detailing in the trunk and removed the rest of the old glue and polished it up a bit....
Got a 6v battery and finally got to hear it run, still need to finish up the detailing on the engine with a factory coil decal and air cleaner decal...

Hey man hows progress going on this thing? I don't know if you've seen this paint but thought I'd share it with ya, saw this at home depot the other week while I was wondering around, thought it looked close going by the cap so I picked up a can just to see. It's rustoleum sage green, I'm sure ya might have some small touch up's to do and maybe you could try this if you haven't already.
It's the shiny section in the center of the pic, it's not dead on but better then primer or nothing at all I guess
