You'd just chip up the new paint! The gaps on my square are not all that perfect! So you might as well relax & let the painter do his thing. BC/CC for the best! _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

Leo, to me it's not that bad but I have been doing these things almost since God was a child and i have a little arsenal of tricks.
There seems to be lots of burnout in the auto body world when it comes to anything more involved than a quick collision repair on a late model these days. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

So making body gaps right was extra |
Wait, what? |
Yeah... really? The bill isn't out of line if absolutely everything is perfect, but who charges extra to check and adjust body gaps on a restoration job? As a standalone, yes, but not as part of a tear it apart body and paint job! |
Leo, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but IF you want him to get everything right, you're going to need to drop off the fender beading, so he can fit it while adjusting the body lines and gaps. Without it, he can't really set anything, unless you're going to run without the beading.
Setting the gaps and body lines isn't that hard to do, but IF you already paid for it to be done, get the beading there ASAP. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I agree, it's not that hard to do. But, if you're going to use the fender beading, then you're going to have to re-do his work, as you'll be taking out the screws that hold stuff in place, then you get to set everything back in place.
I ran into that when I originally did my wife's car, as I left the beading off for paint, only to install it afterward. To install it, you have to take the screws out, or mostly out, then place the beading in it's correct spot, then re-tighten the screws.
Tram, actually everybody seems to be getting more lazy about doing their jobs, not just body guys. It just seems like they're taking more time than usual. And that's the whole thing about collision work, get it out. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I asked him about the fender beeding and he wanted to charge me $500.00 more to install the beeding. I told him to go *^&*) himself. I'm just so over this experiance! |

Well, if he's charging extrato install the beading, then he's not doing the panel alignment either (at least in my book). And if that's the case, tell you don't want him to align the body lines, as you'll take care of that when you install the beading, as you'll have to undo all of his work to get it on.
On my Notch, I'm running it without beading, as I left it off so I can easily get in there to do other work (at the time I was still playing around with IRS engine mounts). But over the last 15 years, it hasn't really bothered me not to have it in place. It's nice in that I can pull a fender off and not worry about the beading shrinking. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
