What kind of job is it to strip down rear axle to slide on solid boot.
Not keen on look of split rubber type however also considering time to fix, specialist tools and other items i might damage
Thoughts ? |

Back in the days they used the split rubber all the time to save them from taking all the parts off that are in the way when you install a solid rubber.
They work as well. You do not want to use them because you do not like the look? You can not really see them under the car. _________________ Master of my domain! |

I think what he's saying is he doesnt feel comfortable with them. I use the split ones as well and that's the route I would go. Just make sure their fastened appropriately _________________ "Lead me, follow me, or get out of my way."

If the axle tubes are off the car, it's easy to install the solid boots onto the tubes without taking the endcasting off. _________________

If you put up the split ones, be sure to put the seam at 9 or 3 O'clock... A seam is esay to bend like that. otherwise if put on 12 o'clock, it is hard to push it together. There will no oil leak . recommended by VW tech books. _________________ Zelensis, glassfibre body made in Belgium , disigned and built on a VW platform About 25 body's built.

I will fit split boots - thanks for the tip on angle.
Thanks,
