Hi all,
My name is Gillian, I come from belgium (from ATH exactly)
I wanted to share with you my new acquisition:
A Beautiful Oval 57 of California origin, specifically the city of Daly City.
The hull will remain in its original state while the entire floor and the mechanics have summers renovated by the previous owner (great job by the way!)
Tell me what you think
Here are some pictures of the beast:
First, his former place of residence:
There it is then when he arrived in Belgium:
disassembly:
Setting up the new floor:
Engine rebuilt:
Complete undressing of the hull:
Interior Paint + trunk + skinning:
New upholstery:
and now:
à bientôt !
Kiss from belgium

I really like how you resisted painting the entire car! It's sometimes hard to stop when chasing rust and repairs, but you guys did a great job with this one! The interior and exterior turned out fantastic!! |

That's a 1956 petrol tank. '57 would have 4 ribs for buttressing on the front face. No matter though, very cool! Very nice.
It's nice that you just fixed the mechanicals and left the body paint for another time.
Have fun.

Ohh it looks so nice original height and wheels, don't be a sheep and follow the flock and make it a lawnmover. Keep it stock, that's the "new" HOT.

I love it. It looks great with stock suspension.
How interesting for it to go from California back to Europe! I've seen more cars go the other direction.
Beautiful job. _________________ Gone but not forgotten: 1950 Hoffman split (restored in 1966) - another 1950 Hoffman split (restored in 1996) |

Is it just me or is the car not sitting at stock height at the moment?
Might be sagging old suspension, but ride height sure looks a bit funny?
Or is there a keg of beer in the rear luggage area and no spare tire in the front? _________________ drive it like you just robbed the bank

Those original oval front fenders is not good for lowering, as they leave less room for the front tire than newer fenders.
So if you want to lower it, change fenders first. _________________ I got a historic car, every scratch got a history...

I have never heard this before, can you clarify where the newer fenders give more room? I always thought the earlier fenders were wider but maybe that is a trick of the eye because they have more curve. _________________ 1957 Oval rag
