Well I was struck with the infamous Type 4 valve seat dropping. So I need to get one head fixed, and the other rebuilt. As I was getting quotes, one of the respected Type 4 rebuilders said that I should go with bigger valves when I have them replace the seats. They especially mentioned the exhaust valve, because it will help the engine to run cooler.

Just a few engine specs: The motor itself is pretty mild. It is a 2L, with a Scat C25 cam (Lift - 0.455", Duration – 272, Duration @ 0.50 - 234), ported and polished 1700 heads with 8:1, 0.045 deck. Balanced stock rods (end to end & total) 914 P&C, Solid spacer 1700 rocker arms with swivel adjusters. 72-74 heater boxes with thunderbird header, Suzuki Hayabusa muffler, and dual Weber 40DCNFs.

The motor is actually in a Squareback, with an automatic transaxle. So because of the automatic, I really don’t see very high RPMs due to the shift points (I rarely row the shifter). So, if I go to larger valves, will I see any advantage and / or will I lose torque? I am posting here, because you folks know more about the Type 4 engine, then the folks in the Type 3 forum.

Also, for the head work, I have narrowed it down to two shops: European Motor Works, and Headflow Masters. Any thoughts? Thank you
