What type of plastic in the instrument panel and gauges made of and what solvent could be used to fuse it back together?

I’m looking for the solvent, nothing like epoxy, JBweld, or super glue but the actual solvent.

I’m guessing its ABS and maybe acetone might be a good way to chemically bond it back together?

Cleaning up the cluster after the odometer fix and would like to put it back tidy.

Acetone is what you are looking for. I used it to weld several little bits back together on not only the IP, but also my heater plenum. Just a small artist brush and acetone.

You can know for sure using destructive testing......

Or get the glue for your best guess and apply a little to a hidden spot, smear it around in a circle with your fingertip.......... does it lie on top or does it melt the plastic?
If it melts the plastic, you've hit pay dirt!

From experience, I'm remembering ABS ........

This is what I use - works quite well:

I get it at a local hobby shop.

I have not tried Acetone for this, the purpose made product seems thicker so possibly it gives you more work time.

In addition to full breaks, if there are fine cracks the glue can be applied to those and capillary action will pull it into the crack and effect a repair.

Be aware - in my experience the weld will seem to set up quite quickly (minutes) but you really want to wait overnight for it to have full strength.
