Alright guys.. we fixed it. Prepare to laugh..

It was a very un-obvious fuse for the pump - didn't look burnt at all. Moral of the story - check everything twice.

Thanks for all the advice. Stay tuned for a "how to proactively take care of my new 412 thread!"

Glad you found it!
Fuses can be tricky, in this type of fuse holder there can be a bad connection by oxide or by tired fuse holders even if the fuse is not burnt.

Since the fuse only feeds the pump the reason for a burnt fuse should be in the wires to the pump or in the pump itself, check the wiring etc to the pump to make sure there is no short to ground.

Already on top of it! I checked the plug into the fuel pump and it actually has a decent original rubber housing on it. Next on the list to check will be the pump relay.
