I grabbed the picture from his gallery.
You have a very big glove box in that car.
If you replace your master cylinder consider switching to dual circuit. I had
a brake light switch fail so it squirted fluid. I still had brakes, lousy brakes, but still brakes.
Changing the wires is good. We like to blame fuel lines, but electrical is also an issue. I know I replaced the 40 year old wires, and 40 year old fuel line and 40 year old brake line when I started my project.

To my amateur fire investigation eyes (and as someone else already mentioned), it appears this fire started in the D-pillar.
This fire did not ignite in the engine bay; it started up front and spread to the rear via the interior:

it also helps a lot to get the wiring diagram. here is a link, just click it and find yours. then study it for a couple of hours like i did till you understand it. it will help a lot. because you will understand how things are fed power and how exactly everything should be connected.

While we are talking about wiring harnesses, I added a 40 amp inline fuse under the back seat from the battery to all the wires in the front. The wire to the starter and alternator is not fused. My thinking is that should prevent fires. I started with 30 amp but the coil, radio, headlights, wipers and phone charger just about used up all those amps, the turn signal overloaded the 30 amp fuse. |

Personally would not fuse that. When, not if that fuse blows again, it might be a very dark and winding road.... By the time you stop you might have gone over that cliff or into the side of one. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

That's a good point, I hadn't thought of that. |

I'm installing a WW harness right now in my 67 and i'v found a few issues with it. so far:
The Red/bk wire to the R/R brake light was run to the front side of the harness. I had to cut that out and splice it into the rear left lead. The other Red/bk that is up front that connects to the Brake light switch with the 1-1 connector was fine.
However the the 2 tail light leads, Gray/rd and Gray/bk that connect to the fuse box next to each other, Well that Gray/bk was cut short and loomed next to the Red/bk for the brake lights. about a foot to short. so that had to be re-worked.
And the heavy Red wire that runs from the Generator - B+, to the Light switch #30 - - - put in the loom backwards. Loop should be on the rear and female in front. Nope, had to cut those off and re-splice them back.
All in all the harness, the rest anyway seems ok and the wire quality and connectors is excellent, for sure
Just my 2 cents |
