I decided to scan the information I collected over the past years when I first saw and bought the 1949 Hebmüller
14-00258 in Germany in 1970. What an incredible 27 year ride it was with Hebmüller 14-00258.
Now the information can be easily accessed and looked at by anyone who might be interested.

REALLY cool story! It's unfortunate that you sold it though. I don't think I could've done it. _________________ -Greg |

What a great portfolio -- and great memories. I remember reading most of those magazine articles when they first came out.
BoB, you've done more than any other person in America, and probably the world, to popularize the Hebmuller as a collectors car. You've told me you have no regrets parting with Heb No. 258, but we all have cars we regret having sold, so allow us to share those regrets for you.
To many of us, you will always be linked to this car, and the Type 14A, and we think of you as Big Daddy Hebmuller. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Thanks for sharing Bob. Now I know why that car was so well known in and around San Diego when I was growing up.
I particularly love this letter. Sent back in 1972. So early that one of the clerks that received your inquiry could have just asked to speak to old Karl - he was around when Hebmuller was in production - ask him about the car! Im sure there was a wealth of undocumented information floating around peoples heads at the time. And then to follow up a couple years later with Paul Hebmullers autograph - amazing.

Wow I was -/- 1 year old in 1970 . Great to get a sneak peak of what it was like for the pioneers of ACVWs back in the days. Thanks a lot for posting! |

Many Thanks for all the very nice compliments . . . .
Like I said "I had a great ride with that Hebmuller 14-00258 for 27 years"
Just because I sold the Hebmuller 18 years ago and no regrets . . . .
Does not mean I quit the Vintage Volkswagen scene . . . .

My dream and goal is to build such a documentation on each Hebmuller on earth that is known. On some cars, I have a bit info, on others, I have a bit more and some....are just known by nrs with a single pict that is used in the registry online at www.karmann1952.de
This kind of documentation is priceless... _________________ Zelensis, glassfibre body made in Belgium , disigned and built on a VW platform About 25 body's built.

yeah thanks for posting.. Legend! I was amazed by your car when I saw it in several books in theearly 1990s when I first got into VWs. I managed to see a couple in Europe, and one here in Australia when it lived here.. I can't recall the build number but it too was in a couple of magazines at the time |
