Co worker gave this to me today. Not sure of the year, but it's a Columbia Twosome tandem bike with the most badass patina. New whitewalls, chains, and I had to repair and repack the front bearing.
Never rode a tandem bike before. Scary at first, but after a few minutes it was a breeze. I even rode the front seat and made Bob (250lbs+) ride bitch for a while. Had to give all the neighborhood kids a ride, then convinced my wife to hop on. No crashes so far.

I've had my '67 Schwinn Twinn for almost 20 years. My daughter is now finally tall enough to ride on the back. So much fun. Like driving a school bus.
Enjoy your tandem. They are like nothing else on two wheels. _________________ nothing |

Nice!
If you want to bring back the red underneath, I suggest WD40 and synthetic steel wool (the kind that looks like a scotchbright pad - next to regular steel wool at the hardware store)
Just that and elbow grease made my 50's Columbia look worlds better without repainting
yes really, this is the same bike - just WD40 and Synthetic steel wool
in progress

Wow That is a pretty amazing transformation. But I kinda like the rusty patina on my tandem. If I start with that synthetic steel wool I'll be totally committed at that point. My wife loves it too, so I'll keep it ratty and patina for now. |
