It looks that these are the only stock lookalikes with performance exhausts out there in the market (with the peashooters). Just wonder if they are quiet compared to stock. |

they are a performance exhaust so you can not expect them to be as quiet as stock but they are not overly loud (at least compared to other performance exhaust) though I do have the super flow which they do say is louder then super stock but it is not loud enough for the police to bother with me (at least not for the exhaust) _________________ ____________

If you are worried about it being quiet just take the muffler off all together. |

And if you are worried about performance, don't buy this exhaust any way! _________________ There are no stupid questions, only stupid people,

I am looking for one which is really quiet, even at the cost of losing some high RPM performance. |

Too loud and restrictive as compared to std merged systems imo. _________________ 2276 IDA's 86C 11-1 DD !

merged header and a GOOD merged dual or single quiet pack are amongst the best performing and quietest exhaust systems out there....its just too bad that most of the good merged quiet packs are NLA - berg, 4tuned, phoenix etc. SCAT still offers an old style dual quiet pack muffler for merged headers, but i dont know if it is as good as the true old-school ones though. I have a new style CB performance dual quiet pack waiting installation on my 2180...im hoping it'll be less "droney" sounding then the turbo muffler i have on there now. _________________ 67 bug x3

They are not quiet like a stock set up, but I don't think they are that load either. At speed I hear my carbs over the exhaust, and at idle I hear the valve train over the exhaust. _________________ Pres. Rivercity VW Club www.rcvwclub.org

Bugpack merged header with a hideaway is reasonably quiet.

I agree, the hideaway is the best performing QUIET system out there. _________________ It's just advice, do whatever you want with it!

I'm running a bugpack header and their hide-out muffler. Definately louder than stock, but not as loud as a mondo. Great sound in my opinion. Needed a little reconfiguring to fit my ghia, but it's out of the way, and not dragging. _________________ 1958 Karmann Ghia owner

Looking up all the Vintage posts on You Tube, they sure seem quiet to me. Quiet in a good way that is. They seem to sound a lot like a 356... |

I found a thread in which Glenn demonstrated the sound of his dual quiet pack. The sound was pleasant and very acceptable, compared to the A1 sidewinder I am running, IMO.
Anyone has other clips on dual quiet packs that I could perhaps further confirm? |

the stainless has a higher pitched tone than the mild steel of the QP type systems.
not loud at all on smaller engines.
on big engines--as T mentioned--a completely different story
the VS "1200-1600" exhaust has a funky slip fit on the flanges from 2 & 4 down pipes that meet the muffler.
they should make them in 13/1600 and 1200 widths, IMO.
good fweem with stock peashooters
VS quality is pretty much second to none outside of full custom fabbed stuff, no question. _________________ 88 Van WBX, A/T - 13 JSW TDI 6M/T - 2012 Touareg TDI Sport |

I made contact with VS a couple of days ago and was advised to use this, along with the choice of 150mm exhaust to make it quiet. However, I have no idea how 'quiet' this is.
