Whats with the major spike in the third quarter of FY 2014-2015?
Crazy. All Karmann Ghia models. not just the linked model. |

Guess I'd be better call them and change my agreed upon value then. My wife's Thing is also under insured. _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980

Not sure where the values are from or their accuracy but Ghia values do seem to be increasing...along with everything else in the collector car market. _________________ Ghia Owner Emeritus |

I thought I was the only one who noticed the big spike! I wonder how haggard gets their pricing? Do they just average out selected cars? _________________ 1971 Karmann Ghia

Seems like all of the "affordable" collector cars are rapidly on their way to no longer being affordable. I also have a '69 Datsun roadster and the Hagerty values show that a Condition 2 car went from $20k to $30k in the last 2 years; a Condition 1 car from $32k to $48k. |

My 71 coupe is also insured with Hagerty - based on this latest data my valuation will also need updating. It'll be interesting to see if this trend continues when the September pricing update comes out. Checked the valuation on a 71 beetle coupe and the May 2015 data is fairly consistent with the previous few updates... |

I'm thinking the rise in values of Karmann Ghia's reflected in Hagerty's numbers is KG values moving in sympathy (although belatedly) with the rise in values of Porsche 356's and 911's, cars with which KG's share a common ancestry (for lack of a better term).
Have KG's become, for many who have been priced out of the market, a surrogate ownership experience for 356's and 911's?

I keep seeing the Ghia listed as a Top ten car for "Fun", "Sports car", etc so then demand for these cars is going thru the roof for unmolested nice examples. Look at the ones for sale as most are rusted out or modified which are not what new buyers are looking for. _________________ 70 Ghia Black convert-9/69 build date-stock w/133k 1600 SP-barn find now with a rebuilt tranny and engine

You got a point there BrentDF. An example is how just the other day, my friend who lives in Seattle sent me a picture of a 356 thinking that it was a ghia! In his defense, he is not a "car person" and the 356 was a karmann hard top! I'm not sure If I am happy or not to know that ghia prices are going up _________________ 1971 Karmann Ghia

Late model 356s were made in the Karmann plant so he might have sensed the Karmann vibe when looking at the picture |
As were many 911s in the early years of 1966-71 |
