|
|
Hi, last week i bought my dreamcar ! Its a 59 splitscreen panelvan. I live in germany and i want to know some of the history of the car.
Today i grinded some parts to read the lettering on the side.
I think it says "Village Liquor Store" 3412 Orkney - the last should be a telephone number ? Is 3412 a postal code ? or street ?
On the front door there is a lettering "TABC 81636" So the car was in texas but i can find there Orkney.
I am confused

there is a Orkney road in Boston MA. which would make more sense as an address in the US
postal zip codes are 5 numbers here followed by 4 numbers that weren't use much back then _________________ '60 15 window walkthrough

The number is a street adress and Orkney is the street/road/avenue/drive/boulevard/etc...
Google is likely your best hope here, perhaps even a drive on street view, but there's quite a few towns in Texas with a thoroughfare named Orkney. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

That number under the address is a phone number and looks like 791-4731.
And I think "TABC" is Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission followed by the State License #.
Any of you Texans remember drive-thru windows at bars where you could buy a 32 oz. brew to go, legally?!! Those were the days, not! _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon

No sadly not, the last owner in germany bought it at a car dealer in netherlands, who imported the car. The title says me the last owner in the us lived near San Diego in california.
I used the M-plate decoder and the car was shipped to New Orleans in 59, for me it seems plausible that the bus was sold to texas, and after years it went to south california.
Maybe anyone know this panelvan, it had a big crash in the front, and big camper slidewindows on the side. It got many dents, i think most of the liquor was drunken by the driver
It would be nice to get more information about the car history. Yesterday i found 2 cents and a pencil, awesome
Everett, i agree El Paso looks right.

Post up some more pictures. Chula Vista is a well observed area and there are many members here that are locals of that area. |
