Very nice!! I'm a sucker for wagons. A b3 Passat was my first car.

I LOVE that early dasher, too bad it's not a waggy. I always wanted an early dasher wagon or Audi fox wagon.

Funny, I have searched for both in my time. Never found the right one. While I am currently searching for a Mk3, I'd pull the trigger on a Dasher or a Quantum if the right one appeared. Since I now own TiggeR, the desire for a wagon is reduced.

Having both at the same time now would probably draw some ire from the wife as explaining the utility of owning both would be difficult.

Looks like quite an unusual "survivor", and brings back many memories. Our family had many watercooleds in the '70's. My mom had a brown '76 Dasher 4-door just like yours, new. Same wheel covers as on yours; had an auto trans. First car in which I drove 100mph Rolling Eyes. Is yours also a '76? My dad had a Miami Blue '75 Audi Fox 4-door sedan. It had the fuel injected 1.6 liter engine a year before it was offered in the Dasher. Then in '78 I had a new white '78 Dasher 2-door hatch Cool . When I worked at VW in Wolfsburg in the early '80's I had a Euro-version 4-door Passat (Quantum) hatch, with the 5-cyl engine, manual trans, and sport seats Surprised . Sold it locally and moved back to NY. Bought a used '80 Dasher Diesel 4-door hatch in '83 from a local VW dealer in which I drove around the country for sightseeing. It was my second car until the timing belt broke in '97 and it was just not worth it to fix. That Dasher was a very practical car; loads of room inside with the rear seat down; despite the slowness I could flat-tow a Beetle and still barely maintain a decent cruising speed on the highway when it was level. Without towing something I could easily get it up to the max. 85mph on the speedo, and it would creep beyond that as well.

It's been probably 15 years since I saw a Dasher on the road. Next time I go to one of the larger VW meets in the area such as Litchfield or Terryville in CT I'll need to wander over to the WC area to see if there is a nice early WC. I also had 2 Sciroccos back then; a gold '77 and a mars red '81 S. My active interest in VWs has been aircooleds since the mid '80's.
